I’m so glad that I finally got to see some episodes of this show that my daughter keeps telling me about. I was offered a review copy (for free) so that I could check it out. What I received was the last two episodes, “Mattress” and “Sectionals”
Episode Twelve, “Mattress”
In this episode, the Glee Club gets omitted from the school yearbook. Rachel, one of my favorite characters, gets the team cast in a local commercial for mattresses to help them climb that evil social status ladder. Unfortunately, that gets them disqualified from competing at sectionals. The director of the Glee Club, Mr. Schuester, finds out that instead of actually being pregnant, his wife is wearing a fake baby bump.
Episode Thirteen, “Sectionals”
In this episode, the last of Season One, the Glee Club goes the big competition at Sectionals. They pull off an amazing feat there and it was awesome to watch. There is also plenty of romantic drama, some of which surrounds pregnant Glee Club member, Quinn, and her boyfriend, Finn – and the boy who is really the father of her baby, Puck. Let’s not leave out the teachers, though – there is plenty of crazy romantic chemistry going on there, too!
Along with the two really fun episodes, this disc also has a pretty big list of extras. Check ‘em out:
That is a lot of extras! I’m really enjoying this show – it is so funny! And the woman that really piqued my interest when I saw the commercials was, you guessed it – Mrs. Grumpypants! She is Sue Sylvester and she is the head coach of the cheerleading squad and she got it in for the Glee Club! Just look at her uber grumpiness:

One of my favorite lines from this show so far is one of hers. She is talking about her latest cosmetic surgery (or, I should say – gloating, bragging, being a bitch about!) and she says,
“And while they were in there, I told ‘em to go ahead and yank out those tear ducts ….wasn’t using ‘em…”
Crazy cranky pot woman! I guess she’s kind of the female “House”.
Let me tell you what, though, some of these kids CAN SING!!! Oh my gawd!
The show is definitely a lot of fun to watch and you can get the whole first season, including the disc that I was talking about here: Glee, Vol. One: Road to Sectionals

“Mom, why are you always saying that?” says lovely daughter to me last night as we were doing laundry together last night and I had, one more time, tossed that line in her direction. Haha!
“It’s some song from the 80s, I don’t know, we’ll have to look it up.”
I’ve just always liked that line, it stuck with me since the freakin’ 80s and I wind up saying it all the time. I was just ‘lambasted’ yesterday on a webinar about my ‘hanging on’ to things of the past! Ha! It’s true. Guilty. Guilty as charged.
Anyhoo – here’s the song, the reason I constantly annoy my kids with that line:
(NSFW)
Takes me back, oh yes it does. I’m smiling like a crazy woman right now, remembering fun times hanging out with friends, thinking I knew everything and my parents just. didn’t. understand.
Bwahahaha!

This afternoon, I thought I’d share one of my very favorite TED Talks with you. It’s actually really hard to have a favorite TED Talk, as they are all so fascinatingly interesting. Jill Bolte Taylor’s 18 minutes really had an affect on me, though.
Here is the introduction from the site:
Jill Bolte Taylor got a research opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: She had a massive stroke, and watched as her brain functions — motion, speech, self-awareness — shut down one by one. An astonishing story.
A horrible experience, for sure, but, what she got out of it – and shares with others, most importantly, the scientific community – is simply amazing.

I found this totally awesome and super cute and adorably funny video on my friend, Julie’s blog – Julie’s Journal – Whack-A-Kitty. I saw that on her blog in June and had meant to post it over here, because, I loved it so much. And then life got in the way. So now here I am ….giving you joy and giggles:
But wait! There’s more!

You’re gonna love this! I’m serious! It is so cool! Here, I’ll shut up – you just watch:
Isn’t that the coolest thing? I just love it!!! I’m going to call the girls in here (my 12yr old daughter and her 6 and 8yr old cousins) and tell them I want them to see how a baby is made. Can you IMAGINE the looks on their faces? Haha! Especially my daughter!
The video was made by Cassidy Curtis and Raquel Coelho. They tell us all about how they did it on their site: How To Make A Baby
I’m so glad I stumbled across this while I was sitting here enjoying my salad. Someone tweeted it – I tried to backtrack and figure out who I saw tweet it, but, it so many people tweeted it – I have no idea whose tweet it was that I saw. That’s what I get for trying to give some credit. Ha.
