Run And Tell Dat, Homeboy

Antoine DodsonIt is so interesting nowadays how people are coming into fame in ways that never would have happened even ten years ago. Like the little boy, David, who just went to the dentist. His dad takes a video of him on the medicine given to him for the procedure, because it was funny – uploads it to YouTube…and boom bam bing! Fame! And a full time income for the dad! Wow!

GAWD I JUST LOVE THE INTERNET!!!

Ok, so I thought this just happened a couple weeks ago, but, actually – it happened back at the end of July. This guy named Antoine (who really goes by his first name, Kevin, at home) heard his sister screaming in the middle of the night and ran into her room to help her. A strange man was in there, who had climbed in the window, and was trying to violently assault her. Antoine stepped in and the dude ran back out the same way he came in, leaving behind a t-shirt and fingerprints.

The next morning, Antoine and his sister were trying to get some attention to the issue, but, no one would listen to them. They live in the projects and so they just were not taken seriously. The housing authority actually laughed at them. Geez! Eventually one of the TV stations got wind of it and went out to the apartments to check things out. And the following interview is what transpired:

Felix The Cat Vs. The Slinky

I’m always singing, “Slinky, Slinky, what a wonderful, wonderful toy!” And one day I was talking with some friends about it and we were thinking that maybe that’s not how the commercial went and maybe I was mixing it up with the Felix the Cat theme song. So of course, I headed right over to YouTube to see what chaos was happening in the blender of my memories in my silly brain!

And guess what I discovered? Even though I was wrong, they do sound quite similar! And I really did just kind of “blender” them in my head!

Check it out:

Slinky Commercial –>

It’s so much fun having all that history on YouTube! I’m always looking stuff up – and often bugging my kids with it! We have quite an advantage that our parents didn’t have, in that we can now show our kids that “really cool show we used to watch” …or “that commercial that we just loved” …or whatever it is!

More ways to drive my teenagers bonkers? Awesome! You gotta love that! ;)

Where Have All The Staplers Gone?

We’ve already been over the fact that my teens are obsessed with “His Cheeseburger”, well here’s another really good one as it’s one of Larry’s Obscure Broadway Showtunes. I just completely and totally and wholly love showtunes!!!

So here you go – “Where Have All The Staplers Gone?”…….

Veggie Tales are just the bomb diggity!

P.S. You can get 25 Favorite Very Veggie Tunes via mp3 download right here:

The Stapler song isn’t on there (I can’t find it for sale online…hmm…) but my favorite Veggie Tales song is on there. I still haven’t told you which one that is!

Glee – The Road to Sectionals, Disc 4

Glee TV showI’m so glad that I finally got to see some episodes of this show that my daughter keeps telling me about. I was offered a review copy (for free) so that I could check it out. What I received was the last two episodes, “Mattress” and “Sectionals”

Episode Twelve, “Mattress”

In this episode, the Glee Club gets omitted from the school yearbook. Rachel, one of my favorite characters, gets the team cast in a local commercial for mattresses to help them climb that evil social status ladder. Unfortunately, that gets them disqualified from competing at sectionals. The director of the Glee Club, Mr. Schuester, finds out that instead of actually being pregnant, his wife is wearing a fake baby bump.

Episode Thirteen, “Sectionals”

In this episode, the last of Season One, the Glee Club goes the big competition at Sectionals. They pull off an amazing feat there and it was awesome to watch. There is also plenty of romantic drama, some of which surrounds pregnant Glee Club member, Quinn, and her boyfriend, Finn – and the boy who is really the father of her baby, Puck. Let’s not leave out the teachers, though – there is plenty of crazy romantic chemistry going on there, too!

Along with the two really fun episodes, this disc also has a pretty big list of extras. Check ‘em out:

Went Into Your Locker And I Smashed Your Glasses

“Mom, why are you always saying that?” says lovely daughter to me last night as we were doing laundry together last night and I had, one more time, tossed that line in her direction. Haha!

“It’s some song from the 80s, I don’t know, we’ll have to look it up.”

I’ve just always liked that line, it stuck with me since the freakin’ 80s and I wind up saying it all the time. I was just ‘lambasted’ yesterday on a webinar about my ‘hanging on’ to things of the past! Ha! It’s true. Guilty. Guilty as charged.

Anyhoo – here’s the song, the reason I constantly annoy my kids with that line:
(NSFW)

Takes me back, oh yes it does. I’m smiling like a crazy woman right now, remembering fun times hanging out with friends, thinking I knew everything and my parents just. didn’t. understand.

Bwahahaha!
