I have just got to pull this up out of the archives and give it its very own post! Should’ve done it long ago, really. I love this comment – when I got it, I repeated it to everyone under the sun – and then some! And now, I think it deserves its very own special spot!
The comment was made on the post that I made explaining why I was going to nickname this blog, “H2″. You see, this here hippie wannabe girl has a MAD lurvvvve for big machines! So therein pretty much lies my wannabe status. Well, there are a few other things, but, that’s a big one. My lovely commenter, however, had a super duper solution to my big vehicle obsession.
The comment comes from a guy named @Martin, who is working hard to reduce plastic waste. Go Martin! That’s awesome! And here is the uber doober comment:
If you drive slow, all the hippies who have the munchies will come out of the forest because your exhaust smells like fries”
OMHG – do you love it – or do you love it?? Because I love it – can’t get enough of it! And that is exactly why I had to make this post!!! LOL!!!

A pink Hummer? Wow!

I was just outside with my three children swimming in my brother’s pool. Well, Shawn and I were no longer swimming, but, Sammie and Patrick were. Shawn had gotten in his pajamas and was waiting for Grandpa to pick him up – he wanted to spend the night there again. They are having such a nice time hanging out. But that’s a whole ‘nother post. Anyway, so we’re at the pool. I’m sitting on the edge, throwing the diving toys in for Patrick and Sammie, and we’re just having a lovely time together – the four of us, relaxing by the pool.
The two of them finally decide they’ve had enough swimming, as well, and are getting out and dried off. And the whole time we were out there whenever I saw a june bug in the pool, struggling for its poor little beetle-y life, I scoop it up and toss it into the bushes, saving its life. As we are all now out of the pool, Sammie and Shawn join me in the fight to save the june bugs. We’re just scooping up one after another, and sending them on to live out the rest of their glorious two-three days, or whatever their insect life span is!
Patrick, however, thinks we’re weirdos! And he holds nothing back in informing us of this! He even, at one point, starts squirting the poor little guys with the big water squirty toys, to which Shawn freaks out! We get Patrick to stop that, and calm Shawn down, and carry on with our mission!
And then I hear Patrick say, “Durn hippies!!” to all of us!
That kid – I swear! He’s so darn ornery – but, so darn funny! Just like in this tricycle post of mine back in November. He slams you, but, it’s so funny, you can’t do anything but laugh!
What a goofball! “Durn hippies!” Hahaha – I can still hear him saying it in my head, and it was so funny! The three of us there, desperately working to save the junebugs, and then that sorta-gettin’ deep voice of an almost 14 year old monster, “Durn hippies!”

And how happy do you think I was when I found one company that addressed both of those parts of me??
I can tell you, I was so excited! I was introduced to Website Magazine just the other day. I read their online version of their February issue and just loved it, so I ordered a subscription – which just so happens to be free if you live in the States!
While I was reading and thoroughly enjoying their magazine, I noticed a program that, for one, caught my ‘Hippie eye’, but, also – surprised me to see in a magazine about web marketing.
The program is called ReplaceATree.org – and guess what? The foundation is actually run by Website Magazine!
The Replace A Tree Foundation, in association with Sustainable Harvest, will plant one new tree for every subscriber to their magazine! Totally awesome!! The program was just begun this year, and they will begin by planting 120,000 trees retroactively.
And you can even find your tree! How cool is that? I’m gonna check into that and if there is a picture, I will definitely come back here and post a picture of my tree!

Ok, ya’ll – this is great! I’ve been seeing all different kinds of online dating sites – even blogged about one where you can find a millionaire to date!
But this – this is great – an online dating site for HIPPIES!!! I love it! I went browsing around some of the profiles, and I saw some really neat people on there!
Too bad there’s not a HippiePersonal for friends – like maybe a ‘HippieSpace’ or something…having just moved to The Bible Belt – I’m not sure I’m completely understood by the new people I am meeting out here. And while many of them are very nice and I do want to continue to hang out with them, I would love to find a few peeps who ‘get me’ a little more, ya know?
Ah well – any of you sweet hippies out there need hookin’ up – you know where to go!

K…I…S…S…I…N…G!!!
Heehee!
That last post just made me realize something! It’s funny, because I sometimes realize stuff I’ve known all along – just kind of in a different way!
Rednecks and hippies – both share a love of the outdoors!
That is one of the ways that hubby and I fit together, even though we are so very different!
Hippies just don’t kill anything while we’re out there! LOL!
And let me tell you, rednecks don’t do any killin’ while I’m out there, that’s for sure!
I’ve always known that Mark and I both love the outdoors – it was just kind of funny when I thought of it this way!
Ya’ll sing with me….
“A redneck and a hippie, sittin’ in a tree…..”
