Learn How To Soothe An Earache On Twitter
Several days ago, my daughter was complaining of an earache. Her complaining soon escalated to crying and I didn’t have any idea what to do for her – we haven’t really had that many ear aches around here. They may get slight ear infections with their illnesses, the doc puts them on antibiotics and we’re done with it. As far as ear aches that are just so annoying you can’t see straight – we just haven’t dealt with a lot of that. The other night that was exactly what we were dealing with.
I was in the middle of fixing dinner and we had something else going on after that – some kind of marching band thing? I can’t remember. And Mark wasn’t home – I called him and told him I thought we needed to go to the clinic. He said he’d call me back. So then I get on the phone with the clinic to make sure they are still open -you know, the doc-in-a-box thing. And of course – they were not. Endless ringing…
Dinner is burning on the stove – Mark is not calling me back – the clinic phone is just ringing and ringing – and poor Sammie is crying her eyes out!
And that’s when I realized that I had a wonderful source of moms right at my fingertips! Duh! Twitter moms!
I ran to the computer and typed in our plea….begging the moms in my Twitter stream for advice! And this is the gold mine of earache-soothing advice and well-wishes that I got:
Isn’t that just awesome?? I had to post this here on my blog so that I could not only give MAJOR KUDOS to all of those cool chicks, but, also so that I would not lose all of that great information. So this will be my ‘Earache Encyclopedia’ to refer back to whenever there is a need!
Here are all of the super groovy, cool moms that helped me out that day! Go check them out, maybe they’ll help you out one day, too!

Ooooo, I did know the oil trick, but I’ve done it for myself when I get that itchy feeling deep in my sinuses. I wasn’t sure if it would work for pain. Glad you got some good suggestions!
Thanks for the mention! I hope that the suggestions worked. I have had many ear infections in my life and have even had my ear drum rupture twice! I know how bad the pain can get!
Yay for Twitter healing powers! Dylan had loads of problems with his ears and sinuses when he was little. They all magically went away after he had his tonsils and adnoids removed…. hasn’t had a problem since, and he doesn’t snore anymore!
Nice post. Love the power of twitter and the help that is at hand if you have real followers
Yonit – I really got some wonderful suggestions, that’s why I definitely couldn’t lose them. Had to ‘catalog’ them here for future use!
Danielle – You’re quite welcome!
Ouch on the rupture – that happened to my brother once when we were on vacation. I can’t even imagine the pain! But then, it happened to my niece recently (she’s 6) and she was playing and acting normal – didn’t quite get that one…
Loretta – yeah, Twitter rocks for help like that! That’s super cool that Dylan’s problems disappeared with his tonsils and adenoids! I have heard of kids that still have problems even after that surgery.
Murray – thank you for the compliment! I know, Twitter is really amazing in that way! Problems with your computer, problems with your kids, even questions about movies! Yep! One time I was watching a Nic Cage flick about submarines and I got to wondering how many guys go on the subs at a time, so I paused the movie and asked on Twitter. I got an answer straight away – from a guy I didn’t even know! It was great!
