The Pet Shelter Project

Lisa and Puppy 160x120I am loving this and I just have to share it with you! There is a new campaign being jointly run by The Ad Council, Maddie’s Fund, and The Humane Society. The whole premise of the campaign is to help people understand that there are good pets at animal shelters. They are good animals just waiting for their loving forever homes. So many people have the wrong idea about shelters – they think that all the pets there have behavior problems or they are sick or they are just plain un-adoptable. And that is just not true.

Not true at all. My sweet Lucky boy came from the shelter and you will have to look long and hard to find a sweeter dog. Long and hard. Honestly – not kidding at all – in the seven years he has been with us – I can tell you of only two people who have not fallen in love with him. I am completely not exaggerating. I know I’ve got some blog readers out there that can bear witness to this fact. He could be the ‘poster dog’ for shelter pets!

I really could carry on about this issue – and Lucky – all day and that is not what I want to do with this post. I would like to share with you the cool campaign to change America’s thinking about shelter animals. Let’s start with the two public service announcements. You are going to love these!

This first one is called “Ditched” ==>

and 4 million healthy and treatable pets are euthanized each year in
shelters.

  1. I love this Lisa – When I first bought a home, I got the very first dog I had from the animal shelter. She was a registered, tattooed silky toy terrier… and I called her Lady. She was with me for YEARS, before I even had kids. And a very good companion to have.

Isn’t the whole campaign great? I just hope it touches – and changes – some people’s hearts!!

My sweet boy is from a shelter, too. His birthday is Tuesday – he’ll be seven. I can’t believe it!!

So glad to see you in the blogging world again! :D
