very-small-prescription-pic.jpgI’m sick. I’ve been sick going on one hundred years now. Ok, not really – but, it is beginning to feel like it. It’s really been about three or four weeks. I finally got to go to the doctor and I got some medicine prescribed to me for a sinus infection and double ear infection. She prescribed an evil double-antihistamine, oral antibiotics, and antibiotic ear drops. Worried that was too much medicine, I thought we could just go with the oral antibiotics and decided to wait and see how it went. That evening, I spoke to my super-mega sweet sister-in-law, my mother, Mark’s mother and grandmother, and they all seemed to think that was not overdoing the meds.

Well, I soon realized, myself, that I needed the ear drops as well, because, just the oral ones were not taking care of things on their own. Which is absolutely crazy, because, I’ve been so filled up with chemicals since this all began! Just look at these – that is just my morning dose! (Well, minus the one white tablet – the evil antihistamine.)

So anyway, last Friday I asked the clinic to call in the ear drops. We had out-of-town visitors, and a band competition this weekend, and didn’t get around to ‘attempting’ to pick them up until Monday after work – at which time, Mark was told they had not been called in. Ugh! So I called the clinic, and they said it would be another day. So Tuesday morning, I reminded Mark to kindly pick them up after work. He grumbled and shrugged, “Ugh, if I have to…” and then, of course, forgot to do so. So I call and remind him on Wednesday after work to kindly pick them up. He picks up Shawn from drama practice and they go to WalFart afterwards. Does he pick up my eardrops? No. Why?

Because they were $127!!

What the hell?! I swear that doctor was aware of our not having health insurance, and taking care of me with that in mind. They usually pick up on that rather quickly and do whatever they can to help you. The clinic was very busy that day, and I did only get to see her for about a minute and a half, so maybe that wasn’t on her mind. Hmm…

The evil antihistamine was $12, and the oral antibiotic was only $5 – what the heck is the big, psycho jump to over $100?! Oh my gosh! I asked Mark if that was the generic, and he didn’t know. Hello? That would have been my VERY FIRST QUESTION! The pharmacy does, however, know that we don’t have insurance. I visit them once a month, minimum. And they gave me generic of the other two – could that really be the price of a generic? Ugh!
