Sammie has a question for Ted Murphy

Yesterday I shared a lovely video with you. Yes, it was lovely – and very darned funny, too! It featured the lovely Hot Tamale, or as her mother knows her, Veronique, and Ashley – both of whom are kick a$$ members of the Izea team! I showed the video to my boys this morning, who both laughed and thought it was pretty funny. I realized this afternoon, however, that I had not yet shown it to my daughter, Sammie. She loves the funny videos that are produced for and by Izea – she asks me to play Ted’s fish one and his rap smack down all the time. She loves showing her friends those videos! She thinks that Ted is hysterical!

Well, her reaction to the video this afternoon, I thought, was hysterical! So I made her do it again, and I filmed it. The funny part was that she didn’t really have to act – upon watching the video a second time, she just kind of naturally had the same reaction! Ha! It was definitely not as animated as the first time – darn it, why don’t’ I have those eyeball cameras yet!!! You should have seen her – throwing her arms all up in the air, all Ted-style and everything! It was classic! Well, you get what you get – so don’t throw a fit – you’ll just have to see the ’second version’. Here ya go, check it out:

So I guess her big question is, “Ted, what gives??” LMAO!!!

Ted is definitely the wackiest CEO I’ve ever known! He sure knows how to make work un-work-like – that you gotta love about a guy! If you’d like to learn more about him, you can do so here: Ted Murphy on Squidoo.

127 Dollars – Are They Crazy?!

very-small-prescription-pic.jpgI’m sick. I’ve been sick going on one hundred years now. Ok, not really – but, it is beginning to feel like it. It’s really been about three or four weeks. I finally got to go to the doctor and I got some medicine prescribed to me for a sinus infection and double ear infection. She prescribed an evil double-antihistamine, oral antibiotics, and antibiotic ear drops. Worried that was too much medicine, I thought we could just go with the oral antibiotics and decided to wait and see how it went. That evening, I spoke to my super-mega sweet sister-in-law, my mother, Mark’s mother and grandmother, and they all seemed to think that was not overdoing the meds.

The Techno Gods Smiled Upon Me This Morning

Oh my holy, ever-lovin’ machines! I just changed my printer from my desktop to my thinkpad – and do you know what that sucker DID???? Ok, well lemme back up a little – I’m using my husband’s old printer, and I’m not sure where he keeps his discs for such things, so I knew I’d need to start digging through his office stuff, in hopes that I’d find it. Or, I could do like I usually do, and just head to http://www.driverguide.com and hunt it down. (I just love that site!) And I was in the process of deciding which route to take first when I plugged it in (thankfully, my new battery back-up came with an extra USB cord!) And now I ask you again – do you know what that sucker did??? It installed itself and was ready to roll in LESS THAN 30 SECONDS!

A chorus of angels sang, while I shouted out, with tears in my eyes, “Glory Be to Technology in the Highest!”

No more Nohist for me!

nohist.jpg

Dude! My freaking medicine made me so sick yesterday! Ugh! I can’t win for losing around here! So I went to the doctor and found out I had a sinus infection and double ear infection, right? Ok, so she wanted to give me two antibiotics, one oral and one eardrops, and also this super-duper-mega-canon-powered antihistamine. I opted to not get the eardrops, although I’ve since changed my mind on that and have had them called in. I started the other two on Wednesday night. I woke up Thursday pretty darn foggy and icky-feeling. I got the kids off to school and got all my meds in me.

As the day wore on, I not only got extremely foggy/sleepy/exhausted – as most antihistamines do that to a person, but, I also began to feel more sick! More sick?! What?! Yep – my throat was killing me and the pain in my neck – you know the one – from my ear? It was worse, and was joined by pain on the other side of my neck! And then my throat started swelling. It actually became slightly difficult to talk, because, ::GROSSNESS ALERT:: pieces of my throat were getting in the way! Flaps of my throat… ewww! I didn’t have any trouble breathing – yet, I suppose. Eeks!

I called the doc’s and the nurse said I just had a bad reaction and not to take it anymore. I can understand the extreme exhaustion, and I can even understand the swelling throat – that’s a common reaction to things your body doesn’t like. The part that baffles me is how it made my throat more sore and how it made my neck more sore. Weird. I felt so sick yesterday – it was odd – that it was my first full day on meds and I felt so awful.

Oh well – no more Nohist for me. It should be easy to remember – it’s just a double antihistamine – and it’s got a short, little name.

I feel like I’m starting over on getting better. One day, one fine day, I’ll be over this mess. Ugh.

I love my online education!

I sometimes worry about not having been to college, and I kind of keep it in the back of my mind that I will, indeed, go someday. And then I get to talking with my friends about their experiences. And I thank my lucky stars for my ‘free education’ I’ve gotten online. I really have learned an awful lot online, and I continue to learn more every day.

My friends, however, are working their tails off to pay off student loans. The friend with whom I was talking yesterday has been out of school for eight years and her husband has been out for twelve – and they are still working on paying those college loans! Oh my freaking gosh! Ouch! Remind me not to go to college, ok? Gah!

I have heard many stories just like theirs, where people are horribly in debt by the time they get out of school. It sounds like such a nightmare. I know that much like credit card debt, there are companies out there to help people handle their debt from school loans. And just like with credit card debt, there are creepos out there preying on people bogged down my student loans.

John’s got a list of helpful and scrupulous websites where people can go to try to find their way out of student loan trouble. Debt is such a scary thing, so many of us suffer with it, and it just chaps my hide that there are low-life’s out there that would actually take advantage of people in their time of need. Ugh.
